The Powhatan was a tribe who lived in North America and lived near forests and waterfalls and rivers. The Powhatan lived in what is now North and South Carolina. They  lived in lush green forests that were close to mountain ranges. They also lived on some plains. The Powhatans water sources were big rivers. The Powhatan were surrounded by rivers. The names of these rivers near where they lived are the James River and the Potomac River. They also lived by the Chesapeake Bay.

The Powhatan met their basic needs by hunting, fishing, and building. Their houses were longhouses made of large logs, tree bark, stone and deer hide. But some Powhatan lived in wigwams. When work was done, they relaxed by jumping off waterfalls, fishing, and canoe racing. The Powhatan were great hunters and were skilled builders. They loved fishing and were great warriors.
