

Minnesota History
Minnesota was the thirty second state it became a state on May 11, 1858. Six Native Americans tribes once called Minnesota home. Later European settlers discovered the state. Minnesota's fun can be found around every corner. Many important events make up Minnesota. Some of these events include iron mining, slavery, and the super bowl.

The First People
The first people to live in Minnesota were the Paleo Indians. They are also called the Clovis Indians. They arrived in Minnesota around 8,000 bce. They lived on bison, fish, and mammoths. The Paleo Indians made weapons out of stone and wood.
The Dakota people were the next Native American tribe to live in Minnesota. They lived in teepees and were mostly a traveling tribe but some stayed put. They lived on prairies so they could easily hunt bison. When bison were not available, they fished and hunted muskrats.
The Ojibwes arrived in the late 1600s. The Ojibwes were also known as the Chippewas they started to grow wild rice in rivers. They hunted bear, deer, and caught fish they lived in teepees or wigwams. They pushed the Dakota people west and started a massive war.
The Exploeres and Settelers
The fur traders were the first Europeans to discover Minnesota They discovered Minnesota in the year 1659. Their home country was France they discovered Minnesota trying to find gold. Also, they sold pelts to indians they explored the midwest of the state they also, sold to Canada and explored the border of it. They were all outlaws because they were not supposed to sell any goods to Canada.
Sieur Duluth came to Minnesota looking for the outlaw fur traders that sold goods to Canada. When he caught them he had a city named after him Called Duluth it is located at the top of the state . He explored the northern and the mid eastern part of the state. He looked for the outlaws from 1679 to 1703.
Father Hennepin was a minister for France. Father Hennepin explored the northern areas of the state. He also explored some of the state where the Mississippi river was. He was kidnapped by Dakota indians in 1680. Father Hennepin made the most of this by preaching to the Dakota People. .
Fort Snelling was Minnesota's best settlement. For many years was located on the upper part of Minnesota. Most European and American fur traders came here to find protection and shelter. People from all over came to Fort Snelling.

Iron Mining
Iron mining played an important role in Minnesota history, and some first iron mines were developed here. People from Europe even came to these mines, witch started in the Vermillion Range. Most mines were shut down during World War 1. As the war was ending, Minnesota's economy was one of the strongest in America. It was mostly due to this industry.
Slavery
Minnesota did have slavery but mainly Minnesotans were against slavery. Minnesota was declared a free state on May 11, 1858. Minnesota was involved in the civil war. Most people fought against slavery but very few were with slavery. At the end of the war it was completely cleansed.
Super bowl
Minnesota hosted the 2018 Super Bowl. Even though Minnesota's team was not in the Super Bowl It is still a great honor to host this big event. The Patriots lost by eight points their total was thirty-three, the Eagles total was forty-one. The Eagles made some fantastic throws and catches. The Eagles celebrated the win in the cold Minnesota night.

Executive
Branch
The executive branch enforces laws and rights. The governor and lieutenant governor serve four year terms together and can be reelected any number of times. There are five constitutional officers: governor, secretary, secretary of state, Auditor, and attorney general. Anyone in the Executive Branch can be re-elected any number of times.

Legislative
Branch
The Legislative branch consists of a sixty-seven person senate. It has a 134 member house. All members can be elected for multiple terms. Most members serve four years; all representatives serve two years. Minnesota has eighty-seven counties. Usually people’s terms are two years. Their powers include borrowing money, collecting taxes, and seeing how funds are spent.

Judical Branch
The Minnesota's judicial branch mission statement is, “To provide justice through a system that assures equal access for fair and timely resolution of cases and controversies.” The levels of the courts are the Supreme Court, the Trial Courts, and the Court of Appeals. The Trial court has jurisdiction of cases within a specific Judicial district. The ten districts in Minnesota help cover all civil, probate, juvenile, criminal, and traffic cases. The Court of appeals is the error correcting court. They review all final choices of the Trial courts, State agencies, and local governments. The Supreme court is the last resort for all cases. They often resolve challenges that concern Constitutional rights. Their decisions act as a precedent for the court of appeals.
In conclusion, the history of Minnesota spans back thousands of years. The first people that lived in Minnesota were the Paleo Indians, the Dakota, and the Ojibwe. Then the European explorers came including the fur trader outlaws. Fort Snelling was Minnesota's best settlement, and it remained a settlement for many years. Minnesota has been one of the strongest states in economy at times. Iron mining gave Minnesota this honor. In the future, I hope to visit Minnesota myself.
